Biden, Blinken, Nuland, and Sullivan surely make for the most reckless foreign policy team in modern US history. Provoking the proxy war in Ukraine, attempting to provoke China over Taiwan, and now committing an act of war, not just against Russia but also Germany, by sabotaging the pipelines may be one of the most reckless acts in modern history. This all but guarantees depression and the eventual de-industrialization in Germany and much of Europe.
One has to wonder when the European NATO allies will wake up and realize that the US is a far greater threat to them than Russia.

In her video of 2014, when the US started ramping up sanctions on Russia (see link), Condoleezza Rice explains that "Russia will run out of cash before the Europeans run out of energy". She was replying to a journalist's question about German exposure to Russian energy and on how much Russia depends on FX to finance its military. Could it be that she is misreading of the situation? Apparently she does not realize that Russia has a sovereign currency and therefore will never "run out of cash", no matter how much of its foreign trade is done in dollars. Of course Russian FX reserves can be "blocked", as they have been by the USA's "Shock and Awe Sanctions". But Russia does not depend on those reserves for its military, nor will they ever run out of energy, since they have essentially unlimited amounts of both. On the other hand, US ally Germany will run out of both cash and energy if it cannot replace Russian gas. Germany has a structural problem with energy. Did blowing up the pipeline make the problem a lot worse?
Under tremendous pressure to prove that he wasn't a Russian agent, it appears that Trump buckled to the deep state to show how tough he was against Putin, thus slowing down and preventing NS2 from opening on his watch. He also allowed more offensive weapons to be shipped to Ukraine while Obama refused to. Apparently, Trump thought that his actions might win him some support from the rats who hate him. Obviously, he was mistaken. It just got him impeached over a phone call. Still, I don't think we'd be on the precipice of the abyss if Trump had won a second term, though that's pure speculation. If proven, this USA blowing up of NS2 and NS1 is an act of war both against Germany and Russia. We already know that US or other LNG cannot replace Russian gas within the next 2-3 years. Germany's and Eruope's large manufacturers will move to their Chinese or non-Europe subsidiaries (Volkswagen announced this as a first). Secondary manufacturing will follow - Hakl, the toilet paper manufacturer, filed for bankruptcy. Artisan bakers in Belgium and France are reducing their output to one daily baking cycle - the second cycle was their profit. Ice cream companies in Italy and Belgium are facing triple to six times higher energy bills, questioning viability. Both at the mega-level (industrial) and the small enterprise level, Europe will be in severe crisis. This is more severe and more significant than the 'cold winter'.
It is not the one factor that will define the outcome. The Russian victory; the American inability to supply; the increasing evidence of American malfeasence, the continued eroding of EU currency as well as the US stock market and eventually the US dollar - whether suddenly coming together or slowly grinding together, it will be a huge change in who runs the world - and that will no longer be the West.
