From his own posts, his sole obsession was becoming a famous mass shooter and perpetuating the cycle of intense media coverage leading to copycat mass shootings. He likely appropriated the white supremacist insignia and Nazi tattoos to mimic the Buffalo shooter, knowing the media's interest would be piqued.
I think it was extremely irresponsible for Bellingcat to publicize the shooter's profile. In their misguided effort to own the cons, they gave him precisely the aggrandizement he was seeking . With a rudimentary amount of research, they should have realized they were being played like a fiddle, but I guess they have a different agenda than public safety. Odd that their objective aligns so perfectly with that of a psychopathic mass murderer.
